The Last of Us American Dreams, the prequel comics, 4 issues together, was released months after the game came out.

Currently there are lots of graded and ungraded copies on Ebay with varying prices. The details here will help you to find the correct print editions!

Details:

  • The original game’s special editions, included the first issue of the comic. The Post Pandemic Edition aka collector’s edition included a full sized first issue with its own cover variant.
  • The comics was released in 4 parts, which were then collected together for one single paperback/hardcover release.
  • Original issues were all soft covers, with some differences in each reprints.
  • These 4 issues also had a Mexican release. We will get into the differences later.
  • There is a special limited to 1000 hardcover edition, collecting all 4 issues.
  • With “The Last of Us Part 1 Remake” Firefly Edition, we got 4 reprints with new redrawn cover arts by David Blatt.

First Issue:

Issue 1, First Print, barcode ending with 00111

How to recognize print edition?

The barcode should end with “00111” and always had “The Last of Us” written in white.
If barcode ends with “00111” but has “The Last of Us” written in red, then it is second print. So is “00123”.
Third print has barcode ending with “00113” and has “The Last of Us” written in red.

Variant Post Pandemic/Survival Edition:

These were included with the special Joel and Ellie editions. Different regions got these comics localised in their own languages.

American Dreams Mexican editions:

These editions are all in Spanish with one significant difference on cover- except issue 4, none of them have the barcode on the front.
All of them also have distinct “Kamito” logo on the cover.

Firefly Edition:

With “The Last of Us Part 1 Remake” Firefly edition, bundled were these reprints with new covers drawn by David Blatt (he also did the key arts for remake and remastered).

We do not know how many copies were printed.

The Last of Us American Dreams Collection Edition:

Regular Paperback and Hardcover edition:

All the four issues were collected together and reprinted using the cover of the 4th issue. This has a paperback cover.

They were translated and published in USA, Germany, Spain, France, Mexico, Russia, Turkey and many other countries.

French and Russian editions are hardcover using this same art.

Special limited to 1000 hardcover:

This special edition was released at NYCC and Wondercon.

People mostly advertise this as limited to 500 copies, but each event had 500 copies. So it is actually limited to 1000 copies.
